Given the release of Content Localization in DNN5.5, I was wondering what the plans are for DSLocalizator.

I for one think that DNN5.5 isn't ready for CL and that leaves my wanting to continue using DSLocalizator.  I'd just like to know if there are any plans to continue support and development?

Also are there any plans to put the new source code for v3.0.4 on snow covered, last time I looked it was still the older version?

If you are planning on stopping devlopment, have you thought about making DSLocalizator open source and putting it on codeplex?

Regards,

Dave.

Dave, just asking, when is the last time you heard anything from Locopon? His last postings seem to date back to January 2010.

The release compatible with DNN 5.x is a beta release and should not be used in production environment. Do you still expect a stable release?

Hi,

Last time I hear from him on a forum was back at the end of 2009.  Although I see a post in the genral forum from8/10/2010 1:11 AM.

I'm not sure what's wrong, but I hope it's a case of too much work and not anything serious.

With the v3.0.4 of DSLocalizator, I do have it running on live systems and it seems fine, although I did hear of problems with the skin object, but I don;t use them.  I've also stopped using the langauge selector and turned instead to the DNN one...although that doesn;t work in DNN5.5, unless you load Oliver Hine's Advance Control Panel, which has a fix for the issue.

I was hoping to buy the source for this version, so if I did have issues I'd be able to firefight them.  But so far things are working great.   I do have the source for the older version, but the jump is code makes it useless.

My reasons for wondering if Mauricio was thinking about going open source with this was that I'd be the first to sign on to help. (Although to be honest I am finding it hard to deal with NB_Store, let alone another OS project.)...but if any issues hit my clients sites, I'd be force to help and be able to juistify the time.

Regards,

Dave.

DNN 5.5.0 was a mistake and should never have been released. Then, on the other hand, it started a discussion about localization and gives input to the DNN development team about what we users of DNN expect of CL. 5.5.0 was more like a public beta.

DSLocalizator was so damned good, we all hope to see it implemented in the DNN core. 5.5.0 has taught us that the implementation of CL will happen on a different footing. But if we point in the DNN forums at what functionality we want in the core implementation, I think we may end up with a solution that is as versatile as DSLocalizator.

We should also start brainstorming about tools/functions that make migration to DNN 5.5 easier.

Dear Friends

Sory for not being so much expressive lately, but be sure I am still listening to all posts.

I was waiting for the new DNN version and I am currently reviewing it. If it does not cover the basic requirements I will continue to release a new version of the DSLocalizator.

However, DNN 5.5 is a new version and as a new version it needs a lot of stabilization before being ready for production.

You know that I built the tool waiting for the localized version of DNN since DNN 3 and I am sill having hope that it will include all our needs.

Be sure that if I close the project, then I will make the source available. But....the project is still open.
